This morning, the town of Middletown announced plans to erect a bronze sculpture of our favorite war hero dog. The announcement took place at the Connecticut Trees of Honor Memorial park, where the statue of Stubby will be placed. The base of the statue will be behind the stone wall you see in the photo below. The mounted photos you see below are (photo on the left) a artist drawing of the Stubby statue, and (photo on the right) the clay model from which the bronze tribute will be cast. The statue is the work of Susan Bahry, whose statues of war dogs can be seen at sites throughout the world. The finished statue will be unveiled on May 26, Memorial Day weekend.
